Geysers, Hot Springs, Mud Pots, Fumaroles

I do not know if we could call ourselves experts on the geothermal features of Yellowstone after today, but we sure know a heck of a lot more than we did when the day began.  We saw an amazing array of Geysers, Hot Springs, Mud Pots, and Fumaroles as we traveled through Lower Geyser Basin.  Once again, Yellowstone is like nothing else, we have experienced (minus the people of course) on this adventure.

Just to prove that Yellowstone is not all about Geysers, we traveled along the Madison River through a nice flat Valley.  We then were treated to a canyon drive along the Firehole River…amazing.

We are sitting in the Old faithful Inn admiring the amazing architecture while I write this blog.  The Inn was built in 1903-1904 in less than a year.  Not sure why construction takes so long today…it could never be all the hoops you have to jump through and all the architects and engineers who are involved!  We are waiting for our dinner reservation in the Inn restaurant.  A couple of days ago our mid-afternoon lunch in a Jackson Brewery was good but did not cut it as an Anniversary dinner…at least that is what I was told!

Distance Traveled = 188 km.  Wildlife Sightings = Chipping Sparrow, Cowbird, Tree Swallow, Red-tailed Hawk, Mountain Bluebird, Canada Geese, Trumpet Swan, Gadwall, Osprey, Buffalo.
