Arches National Park
I have not talked about the weather recently…so here
goes. Most of the time as we traveled
across New Mexico, the daytime highs reached into the low 30’s. At night the temperatures would go down to
between 20 to 25, reasonable for sleeping.
The temperatures have felt comfortable for us because this is a dry
heat. 32 degrees here is not the same as
32 degrees in Louisiana for example.
Louisiana was a sauna with incredibly high humidity levels. However, elevation can do strange things to nighttime
temperatures. The last 2 mornings as we
were rising it was close to freezing…sitting in long pants and jackets drinking
coffee felt a little bit strange. Today
the temperature went back up to 37 degrees.
We are not used to such fluctuations.
It is 6:00 pm as I write this, and the temperature is still 37. Not sure whether to wear socks to bed or nothing
at all…sorry to put such an image in everyone’s mind!
Today we visited Arches National Park in Utah. Once again, we were overwhelmed by the
strange land forms. It is impossible to
put into words what we saw, so the pictures will have to do.
We are set up in Green River KOA. Green River is in the southeast corner of
Utah.
Distance Traveled = 251 km.
Wildlife Sightings = Least Chipmunk (yesterday in Mesa Verde), Turkey
Vulture, House Finch, Western Kingbird, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Bullock’s
Oriole.
